How to Make Delicious Vanilla Bean Ice Cream at Home

Ingredients:

Heavy Cream 2 cups
Whole Milk 1 cup
Sugar 3/4 cup
Vanilla Bean 1
Salt 1/4 tsp
Egg Yolks 5

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and salt over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Slice the vanilla bean in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds using a knife. Add the seeds and the empty vanilla bean pod to the saucepan.
  3. Let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks until they become pale yellow.
  5. Slowly pour the hot cream mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly.
  6. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  7. Remove the vanilla bean pod and let the mixture cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  9. Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.
